Amendola is a wide receiver who played at The Woodlands High School and Texas Tech University. In college he was First-team All-Big 12 in 2004, Honorable mention All-Big 12 in 2005, and Second-team All-Big 12 in 2007. Amendola went undrafted but was signed as a free agent in 2008 by the Dallas Cowboys. He was featured on the reality TV series Hard Knocks trying to make it as a pro. He spent 2009 as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles' practice squad. Amendola was signed by the St. Louis Rams where he played from 2009 to 2012. Amendola set a record for most receptions in the first half of an NFL game with 12. With the Patriots he won the AFC Championship in 2014.
